sheffield graffiti artists
Graffiti – controversy in one word. The age old debate still goes round and round – but it's all subjective in the end.
To me, graffiti art is one of the last forms of communication that is unadulterated by this culture of spin and ambiguity. There's no room for flattery; no space for adjectives; no place for explanation.
Everything has to be said in one piece, communicated by style, flow and colour.
Even the fact that you have to paint using your whole body adds an honesty to it. Shapes come from shoulder sweeps rather than wrist twists. Most pieces have been created in a couple of hours not days or months, there’s no going back to adjust a mistake – it is an ephemeral art form. Temporary adornment.
And it’s a skill. But the beauty of it for me is the anonymity … people know your art not you. Egos are rarely fed. That's why true graffiti art is unpretentious, unapologetic and timeless.
